Geomembrane
A geomembrane is a very low permeability synthetic membrane liner or barrier commonly used to control fluid (or gas) migration in a human-made project, structure, or system.
The use of membranes in civil and environmental applications is becoming more widespread as there develops a greater understanding of the effects of contaminated ground conditions on structures and the environment. Shivsequoia International are able to offer a wide range of membranes that are compatible with the diverse range of applications and contaminants likely to be encountered. Shivsequoia International are able to advise on the most appropriate product for each specific application and geomembranes are supplied as High Density Polyethylene geomembranes(HDPE), Linear Low Density Polyethylene geomembranes (LLDPE) and Low Density Polyethylene geomembranes (LDPE).

Geonet
A geonet is a geosynthetic material consisting of integrally connected parallel sets of ribs overlying similar sets at various angles for in-plane drainage of liquids or gases.
Geonets are an extruded three dimensional bi-planar core made from virgin high density polyethylene (HDPE) for flow under high loading.
The geonet may have, heat laminated to this core, a nonwoven polypropylene geotextile for situations when the geonet has to provide a filtered drainage path. This product is called a Geocomposite. Dependent upon the application the geotextile may be affixed to either one or two sides of the geonet core.
Applications
Geonets may be used as either liquid or gas collectors. The typical applications for these products are all applications that require drainage/collection of gas and leachates (mining and landfill) and filtration of sediments contained within these liquids. Transnet® is specially formulated to allow for use in high load applications such as landfill cells and where compression resistance is critical.

Geotextiles
Geotextiles are permeable fabrics, made from either polypropylene or polyester. When used in several different applications, mainly associated with soil, geotextiles have the ability to separate, filter, reinforce, protect, or drain. Geotextile fabrics come in three basic forms: nonwoven geotextiles, woven geotextiles (needle punched), or heat bonded geotextiles (structural woven).
To provide effective filtration, drainage and separation of engineering materials in a variety of construction structures associated with a range of transportation and associated infrastructure activities, the use of geotextiles has gained tremendous acceptance over the last 30 years. Geotextile materials, when selected appropriately, allow for the replacement of traditional granular filter and drainage layers, providing a significant environmental and economic benefit.
Geotextiles are a relatively inexpensive product, that when designed and installed correctly can replace traditional granular treatments with significant cost savings, both in aggregate quantities used and traditional labour costs to install such aggregate systems.
Common Applications of Geotextiles
Drainage: Geotextiles will efficiently collect surplus water from structures, such as rainwater or surplus water, from the soil and discharge it.
Filtration: Our geotextiles provide superior hydraulic flow and soil retention, which makes them well suited for filtration in subsurface drainage applications and under hard armour systems.
Separation: Geotextiles are used for paved and unpaved roads, where ground conditions have been compromised. As a separation layer, geotextiles can aid preventing the intermixing of dissimilar materials, add to the performance life of the road and reduce the overall thickness of the road section by requiring less aggregate during construction.
Reinforcement: High strength geotextiles can be used to reinforce earth structures as the strength of the tape or filament within the fabric may be increased to suit a specific application. Thanks to their high tensile strength they are an ideal reinforcement solution.
Protection: Due to the consistent thickness and weight of our Geotextiles, they provide adequate cushioning and protection for critical lining systems

Drainage Systems products
Shivsequoia International provides a complete range of geo-composite drainage products and systems for complete point source water management.Its products and systems manages stormwater as a resource and enhances the social and environmental amenity of the urban landscape. Its drainage products are lightweight and efficient to install. The products are a replacement for traditional aggregate drainage treatments.
Drainage Cell is a lightweight three dimensional geo-composite used for subsurface water management. The Drainage Cell polypropylene core is moulded into a unique profile and then wrapped in a filtration geotextile which then provides a complete void space for the water to travel horizontally without any obstruction. Its lightweight, high compressive strength makes the product ideal for roof gardens & podium landscaping, retaining walls, sports fields & golf courses, under drains for slabs and foundations and subsurface drainage for permeable driveways and car parks.
Cuspated Sheet Drains (geocomposite sheet drain) are cost effective dimpled plastic sheet that provides effective drainage and protects the waterproofing membrane. This sheet also acts as a thermal insulation barrier adjacent to the waterproofing, making the product ideal for use in landscaping applications, basement walls, tunnel linings, landfills and road drainage. The integrated non-woven geotextile covering and attached to the polymer core prevents soil particles migrating into the core and blocking the drainage sheet. Wide and easy to handle roll size makes the product quick and low cost installation.

Geosynthetic Clay Liners products
Geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) are manufactured liners consisting of two needle punched geotextile layers encapsulating a layer of sodium bentonite for sealing applications.
Our geosynthetic clay liner is a shear strength transmitting geosynthetic clay liner. The product consists of a high quality sodium bentonite powder encapsulated between an upper and lower layer of geotextile. The products are continuously needle punched through all components and then will be subject to some controlled heat treatment such that the fibres are effectively "thermally locked" in place to obtain high long term shear strength.
Shivsequoia International provides the Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) in a range of product offerings. Geosynthetic Clay Liners are a well accepted method of providing a clay/geotextile encapsulated product, therefore replacing the need for extraction and transportation for clay layers in landfills, dams, landfill capping closures and similar containment structures.

Geogrids
Geogrids are geosynthetic material made from polypropylene, polyethylene or polyester. They are used in several civil engineering related applications to provide ground reinforcement.
Shivsequoia geogrids are manufactured from the extrusion, weaving or welding of a polymer to form open aperture products of varying strength, strain and load carrying capability for applications of soil reinforcement. Generally geogrids have a primary strength in one direction only (uniaxial geogrids) although in certain applications the strength may be equal in both directions of the product (biaxial geogrids). Geogrids work by interlocking with the granular or soil material placed over them. The open apertures of the geogrid allows for confinement of the material within, thereby increasing the shear strength of such materials.

Base/Subgrade & Rail Ballast Reinforcement – Challenging ground foundations within both the roads and railways corridors is extremely common and can lead to deep and expensive treatment remedies without geosynthetics. Global Synthetics has an extensive range of high strength and durable geogrids / geocomposite products (made from Polypropylene (PP) or Polyester (PET)) for subgrade stabilisation on soft and expansive subgrades and stiffening of road and railway asset structural layers.
Geogrid reinforcement provides interlocking with gravel, rock and ballast materials to confine the lateral movements in the overlying structural layers and in most cases can provide up to 30% reduction in depth. Furthermore, geocomposite products with a non-woven geotextile offer the additional benefits of separation and filtration benefits coupled with the stiffness and strength of a geogrid for gravel reinforcement and stabilisation of trafficked areas. Ultimately, creating a sound working platform needed for compaction, improving the subgrade bearing capacity, stiffening the gravel structural layers, controlling differential settlement, reducing the risk of cracks and deformations/rutting.

Cellular Confinement products (Geocell)
Geocell is a perforated cellular confinement system engineered from HDPE sections for maximum performance. MiraCell® is available in several depth and cell opening combinations. Geocell is supplied in a folded configuration that minimises transport costs to site yet can be readily expanded on site for very quick installation. Geocell has been perforated to ensure that each cell does not become water saturated during use.
